How does the quiz work?

Ten flags, four options each, one right answer. There is no timer and no account: press start and go. The three wrong options are always drawn from the same continent as the right one where possible, which is what stops it being an eye test: offered Ireland, Chad, Romania and Moldova you are not remembering geography, you are squinting at near-identical tricolours.

Which flags can come up?

71 of the 195 national flags, the ones most people have actually seen, rather than every microstate and dependency. If you want the full set, all 258 flags on the site are on the flags page with the colours measured out of each one.

Are the flags accurate?

They are the official designs, taken from the flag-icons library rather than redrawn or approximated. One caveat: every flag is shown at a common 4:3 so they sit together in a grid, and a handful of countries use other proportions: Switzerland and Vatican City are square in real life, and Nepal is not a rectangle at all.

Can I use a keyboard?

Yes. Press 1, 2, 3 or 4 to answer and Enter to move on, or tab through the options and use space. Nothing needs a mouse.

What is a good score?

Eight out of ten is better than most people manage on a mixed round. Anything below five usually means the round drew from a continent you have not spent much time looking at. The missed flags are listed at the end with a link to each one.
